I always tell performers we’re trying to get for the boat that they will never have a more receptive audience than the one they will find on the JoCo Cruise. They are the complete opposite of snobs; they want to be entertained, and they want you to succeed in entertaining them. The second I stepped from behind the curtains to sing the song, I could feel their excitement and affection for me flowing onto the stage. The Morris Cruise Night will be having a Thanks Giving-Back event on Friday November 3rd from 5-8 pm at the intersection of Liberty and Washington Streets in Morris. Herb Wyeth from Cruise Night was on WCSJ’s People Are Talking Program and said that this special event is not going to be like a normal cruise night. At each event, the Cruise Night committee chooses an organization and allows that organization to sell 50/50 raffle tickets as well as having a food booth.

Our highest car count to date is 972 cars with 11 states represented. We give back to the community through profit distribution to local charities from funds raised through beneficiary 50/50 ticket sales and food booth sales. No alcohol is allowed and the proceeds from the $10 entry fee for registered vehicles are split between the winning car and charitable organizations. Some to Wyeth’s Alma Mater, Grundy Area Vocational Center, to benefit students who desire to build a career working with their hands. Some is donated to the Golden Wrench Scholarship, which Morris Cruise Night provides to students interested in automotive technology. All beneficiaries require an extensive approval process, where Wyeth and his team sort through applications, perform interviews and vote on possible charities.

The two organizations that will benefit from the event are the Grundy Community Lending Closet and The Grundy County Veterans Assistance Commission. Organizer Herb Wyeth said it was a good event and made for a good night that drew people from as far away as Surprise, Ariz. 134 cities were represented, eight of which were from out of state. MORRIS — After having to cancel all of their events in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Morris Cruise Night is ready to open up its season Saturday night in downtown Morris. Vendors must go through Wyeth in order to advertise or sell products at the event. He has denied big-name companies like Budweiser to lend more space for downtown businesses to benefit. Fourteen years ago, Herb Wyeth gathered friends to propose a fun, non-profit event to benefit the community. Since then, Morris Cruise Nights has developed into one of the largest celebrations of car collectors in Illinois. Downtown Morris will be home to all kinds of different show cars at 6 p.m.
No Wyeth has counted over 100 cities from eight states represented at the events over the years. Registration for vehicles is not necessary, and cars should enter Washington Street from Route 47 and pay the $10 entry fee. We are accepting sponsorships for the “Cruise Night Banner” displayed over Liberty Street during all Morris Cruises. We estimate that 50,000 cruisers and spectators will attend the five Morris Cruise Night events in 2024.

They extended from the summer into October to connect with a Lion Club event, maximizing attendance and bringing even more business to downtown Morris. The beneficiary will be Grundy County Heroes and Helpers, and raffle tickets will again be sold to raise money. The first Morris Cruise Night of the season was a successful one, drawing 919 vehicle entries and even more people to Liberty Street in Morris.

In preparation for the summer, Wyeth has a database of 4,600 people to which he sends a postcard with a photo to reflect the harsh winter season and remind car lovers of the brief driving season. This year, the photo featured a massive pile of snow blocking the entrance to the cruise night. Muscle cars and collector cars, as well as newer sports cars line up on Main Street in downtown Morris, which is located 60 miles southwest of Chicago in Grundy County.
“People are ready to get out and this is an outdoor event, so I have a feeling there’s going to be a lot of people coming downtown. Wyeth said he wouldn’t be surprised if Saturday’s event tops the previous record of 917 cars on display. The cars will line Liberty Street as well as Benton, Chapin, North, Jackson, Jefferson, Main and W. For all fourteen years, Morris Cruise Nights have been held on Saturdays on the second week of the month.
Another good option is a hotel shuttle if you plan to stay somewhere the night before your cruise. We do offer deviations in pick-up route for groups of 20-29, passengers.
